PSQ updates
It's been a long time since I've posted any new info
on our blog. We've been busy since the beginning of
the year. We premiered Lucie Robert-Diessel's "Issos"
for sax quartet and piano at the North American
Saxophone Alliance Biennial Convention at the
University of South Carolina on April 16. This
wonderful piece was written after the composer heard
our recorded performance of her masterpiece,
"Magehia," and decided to write a new work for the
quartet. It has been a wonderful experience working
with her via fax and phone from her home in France.
We just finished recording the piece with Victoria
DiMaggio Lington at the Studio C recording studio
last Friday. The recording will include both of Lucie
Robert-Diessel's pieces, "Magheia" and "Issos," as
well as John Scoville's "Sr. Miro's Saxophone."
Everything is now recorded, we just need to finish
the mix and get the cd's manufactured. The goal is to
have it available by August--please sign up on our
email list to find out when
and where you can get it!
In addition, we finished a concert last night at the wonderful new Bankhead Theater in Livermore. It is a wonderful facility and it was a pleasure performing for a great audience. The day before the concert we did two school concerts for the instrument music students at Granada High School, whose director is Tom Jones and Christensen Middle School, directed by Shahrazad Vakharia. Many thanks to both of them for having us, as well as kudos to their students for being a great audience.
